Changelog

What changed in Sumline, newest first.

In the next release

Built, and already shown on the rest of this site. It reaches your Jira site with Sumline’s next release.

  • Rows that open

On the Sumline tab, Sumline under Apps and the dashboard gadget, a row opens to the issues under it, each with its own figures and warnings.

  • Original estimate, Logged and Remaining on every row

The tables show the three time fields side by side, so a row’s % by time can be checked on the row.

  • Rank order, and sort by any column

The tables open in Jira’s Rank order, the backlog’s order, and Sort by offers every column, Priority and Assignee included.

  • Download Excel

The export downloads an Excel file or a CSV file, both with Priority and Assignee columns. The Copy button is gone.

  • Shorter filters, each explained

The table’s filters offer short options with a line under each saying what it means, and the % complete lines give the sum with a worked example.

  • Remaining worked out where Jira has none

An issue with an original estimate and no remaining estimate counts its original estimate minus the time logged, so the epic no longer reads 100% too early. The tables mark it “worked out”.

  • Percentages say what they leave out

Hover a table’s % by estimate to see the work its basis leaves out, such as work estimated in hours beside story points. With no remaining estimate to go on, % by time reads “—”.

  • Warnings name their issues

Hover a warning to see the issues it is about. In the panel and the Details column the keys it names link to their issues, and an epic with nothing estimated names its unestimated children.

  • Recalculate

Every view gives its age, then Recalculate: “Updated 3 min ago · Recalculate”. On a dashboard, Jira’s own reload icon recalculates the gadget.

  • Open Sumline from the gadget

The gadget’s Open Sumline link opens Sumline under Apps on the gadget’s own spaces.

  • Wide tables scroll sideways

A table wider than its place in Jira scrolls sideways in its own box, so the Warnings column stays in reach, and its columns keep room for their words.

  • The Details column only where it adds something

Sumline’s group in an issue’s Details column shows on epics and the levels above them, and on issues with sub-tasks. A story, bug or sub-task with nothing under it no longer shows it.

  • Percentages read 56%

Percentages are written as Jira writes them, with no space before the sign. Sumline also has a new icon.

  • One row per

The setting that picks the tables’ rows reads “One row per” and names the levels your own Jira puts above epics, such as Feature.

  • Account ids only

Sumline’s short-lived cache keeps people’s account ids, not their names. The Assignee filter looks the names up when a table opens.

  • Tables list current work

A space’s table lists the issues that are open or were done in the last 90 days, with everything under them, so a space with a long history no longer reads as too large.

  • Your own number fields

An admin can add up to three of the site’s own number fields to the rollup, beside story points and time.

  • Remaining estimate on done issues

A new setting, on by default, leaves out the remaining estimate a done issue still carries, so a finished epic stops showing hours left. The amount left out is named.

  • Safer CSV files

A cell that starts with =, +, - or @ is written as text, so a spreadsheet does not run an issue summary as a formula.

  • Submitted to the Atlassian Marketplace

The first version: totals on every issue in its panel and Details column, a Sumline tab in every space, Sumline under Apps across the spaces you choose, a dashboard gadget, and settings for admins.
