Getting started
Sumline needs no setup. Once a Jira admin installs it from the Atlassian Marketplace, every issue with children shows its rollup and every space has a Sumline tab. This page says where each view is and what it shows.
On an issue
The Details column. Every issue with children has a Sumline group in the right-hand column: story points done / total, the remaining estimate, % complete by estimate and by issue count with a bar each, and the children that carry no estimate, by key. It is there as soon as the app is installed, with nothing to add.
The Sumline panel. Open it from View app actions, the hexagon under the issue’s title; each person opens it once. It shows totals for all four fields (story points, original estimate, time spent, remaining estimate), both percentages, a “Check the estimates” box naming the issues with no estimate, and the children as a table: Work, Status, one column per field, Subtasks and Warnings. The panel has no size limit.
In a space
The Sumline tab sits beside the space’s own tabs, or in the left sidebar of a service desk space. It has one row per epic or initiative in the space, with Work, Priority, Points done / total, Assignee, Status, Remaining, % by estimate, % by issue count, Issues and Warnings. Filter by status, assignee and sprint, choose what % complete is based on, sort, and export the rows to CSV.
Across spaces
Sumline under Apps in the left sidebar shows the same table for any set of spaces. Choose the spaces and press Roll up; nothing is fetched until you do. Each row’s key names its space.
On a dashboard
Add the Sumline gadget to any dashboard like any other gadget and choose its spaces when you edit it. It shows every epic with both progress bars and its warnings, and links to the full table. It shows no grand total on purpose: the rows overlap, since an initiative’s row already contains its epics.
Every view shows its age
Each view says when its numbers were computed (“Updated 3 min ago”) and has a Refresh button. Sumline keeps a rollup for five minutes per person, so opening a view again is instant; Refresh recomputes it straight away, so an edit you just made is one click from showing up.
Who sees what
Anyone who can see issues can use Sumline. It reads Jira as the person viewing, so everyone sees only the issues they could open themselves. The settings are for Jira admins: see Settings. What the app reads and stores is on Permissions and data.
