Pivot Report alternatives before Connect ends
Checked on 13 October 2026 against the Marketplace listing, the vendor’s documentation and Atlassian’s announcements.
Sumline is our app. So is Logline, its sibling for worklog reports. Together they are option 4 here: asking the vendor and Jira’s own tools come first, and what Pivot Report does that neither of ours does is in the last section. Facts checked 13 October 2026.
Pivot Report, by Colined, is a reporting app for Jira Cloud built on Atlassian Connect: pivot tables, rollups from subtasks to epics and above, charts, worklogs and time in status. Its latest Cloud version, 1.2.105, was released on 17 February 2026 (its Marketplace listing). Connect apps can no longer be updated since March 2026 (Atlassian), and support for Connect ends on 31 January 2027 (Atlassian); Jira admins see a warning beside Connect apps on the Connected apps page. If your team reads its progress or its hours from Pivot Report, here are the options, cheapest first.
Which option fits
- Stay, if it is moving: ask the vendor (option 1).
- An epic’s hours or points for a report now and then: Jira’s own tools (free, option 2).
- Pivot tables, charts, time in status or service desk SLAs: another reporting app (option 3). Sumline and Logline do none of these.
- Story points, estimates and logged time added up from subtasks to epics and initiatives: Sumline (option 4).
- Hours by person, issue or epic for a period, split by day, week or month: Logline (option 4).
1. Ask the vendor
Atlassian’s advice for any Connect app is to contact the vendor through the app’s Marketplace listing. If Colined announces a Forge version with a date before 31 January 2027, staying may be the least work. Two places to look:
- The note beside the app on Connected apps in Atlassian Administration: a yellow warning means the vendor has said it will not move, or has not said; a blue note means it has said it will.
- The listing’s version history, for a release built on Forge.
As of 13 October 2026 neither the listing nor Pivot Report’s documentation mentions Forge.
2. Jira’s own tools (free)
- Time rolls up one level, no further. A story’s time tracking includes its subtasks, and an epic shows its stories’ own time. Time logged on subtasks never reaches the epic (JRACLOUD-70150).
- Story points don’t roll up at all (JRACLOUD-90636).
- A filter and an export: search
parent = ABC-123, add the Σ Time Spent, Σ Original Estimate and Σ Remaining Estimate columns, export to CSV and total them. Good for a monthly figure, not for a view people open every day. - Plans, on Jira Premium and Enterprise, rolls estimates up every level, but the totals live in the plan, not on the epic.
The Automation rules that write a total into a field, and where they go wrong: Sum story points from subtasks to epics in Jira and Roll up logged time to the epic in Jira.
3. Another reporting app
If your team opens Pivot Report for its pivot tables and charts, neither of our apps replaces it: look for a reporting app built on Forge. The Marketplace’s Runs on Atlassian filter lists the apps with no servers of their own, the closest to Pivot Report’s promise that “no data leaves Jira”.
4. Sumline and Logline (ours)
Each covers one of the jobs Pivot Report does, built on Forge and read-only. As of 13 October 2026 Sumline is in Marketplace review, and Logline is not yet on the Marketplace (its site has a waitlist).
Sumline, for progress up the hierarchy:
- Story points, original estimate, remaining estimate and time spent, added up from subtasks through stories to the epic, and to initiatives (initiatives need Jira Premium). Children in other spaces count too.
- Up to three number fields of your own, added up the same way.
- On the epic itself, with nothing to set up: a summary in the issue’s Details column, a panel, a tab in every space, a table across spaces and a dashboard gadget. Computed when you look.
- Nothing counted twice: when a story and its subtasks are both estimated, it counts one level and shows the value it left out.
- % complete two ways, by estimate and by issue count.
- Download Excel or CSV from any table.
Logline, for worklog reports: a timesheet by person, issue, epic, space or field, split by day, week or month, with billable hours and amounts; every worklog with its comment; saved and shared reports, a dashboard gadget and Download Excel.
Where each Pivot Report view goes:
- Progress from subtasks to epics and above: Sumline.
- Values rolled up from number or time fields: Sumline, for story points, the three time fields and up to three number fields.
- Worklogs report from a filter: Logline.
- Excel export: both.
- A dashboard gadget: both.
- A hierarchy built from issue links: neither; Sumline follows Jira’s own parent hierarchy.
There is no importer: rebuild each view once, and run both apps side by side while you compare the totals.
Two differences a security review will ask about:
- Permissions. Sumline asks to read Jira and keep its own settings, nothing more. The Marketplace’s record of Pivot Report’s current version lists Connect’s Read and Write permissions.
- Where the app runs. Sumline runs on Atlassian’s Forge platform with no server of its own. A Connect app’s pages are served by its vendor; Pivot Report’s listing says its reports are built in the browser, so “no data leaves Jira”.
Sumline is free for sites with up to 10 Jira users; Pivot Report is paid from the first user. Above that, both are billed per user by Atlassian, and the Pricing tab of each listing gives the exact cost for your site.
What Pivot Report does that Sumline and Logline do not
- Pivot tables and charts of any fields: Sumline’s tables have one row per issue at a level you choose.
- Time in status, service desk SLAs and comments in a report.
- Custom hierarchies from issue links, above or beside Jira’s own.
- Tempo Timesheets and Advanced Roadmaps, which its listing names as integrations. Logline reads Jira’s own worklogs only.
- HTML export, and reports shown in Confluence.
- A track record. Pivot Report has many reviews, is in Atlassian’s Cloud Fortified programme and takes part in its bug bounty. Sumline and Logline are new and have none of these yet.
If those are what your team uses it for, option 3 is the one to read. More on the Sumline home page.
