Tempo Timesheets alternative for worklog reports

Checked on 6 November 2026 against Tempo’s help centre, its Timesheets page and Marketplace listing, and Atlassian’s documentation.

Logline is our app. Facts about Tempo checked 6 November 2026.

This page is for teams that log time in Jira, or with an app that writes worklogs as the person, and use Tempo Timesheets only to report. Time logged in Tempo reaches Jira under Tempo’s own app account, with its own comment, so Logline counts those hours under that account, not the person. If your people log time in Tempo, Logline is not the replacement and Tempo is the right tool. If they log in Jira and the report at the end of the week or month is all you use Tempo for, read on.

Why Logline counts Tempo’s hours under Tempo

Tempo’s help centre explains it: Tempo keeps its own database, and Jira gets an anonymised copy of each worklog, with the author listed as “Timesheets by Tempo - Jira Time Tracking” and the comment “time tracking”. Its article adds: “Searching via JQL using worklogAuthor will not identify specific individuals.” (Tempo, why we see Timesheets as the worklog author, read 6 November 2026). We saw the same on 7 October 2026, on a Tempo trial: 2 hours logged in Tempo reached Jira under that account, and Logline counted them there (the question on our questions page). Logline reads only Jira’s own worklogs, so it can show the hours, not who logged them.

When Tempo is the right tool

From Tempo’s Timesheets page and its Marketplace listing, read 6 November 2026:

  • Approvals. Team leads review and approve their team’s timesheets, and leads can also review the hours logged to their work before a timesheet closes. Periods can be locked.
  • Logging where the work happens. Time is logged from a calendar, Slack, an IDE or a phone, from activity suggestions in one click, with reminders over Slack and email.
  • Classifying hours at logging. Accounts mark time as billable or not, and as CapEx or OpEx, when it is logged. Custom fields can go on the log time form.
  • Teams. People are organised into teams, and reports roll up by team.
  • Planning. Capacity Planner is a separate Tempo product for who is free, at what rate and with what skill; Logline has no planning.
  • A track record. The listing shows 4.1 of 5 from 898 reviews, 26,007 installs, version 11.5.0 for Jira Cloud released on 29 October 2026, and membership of the Marketplace’s bug bounty program. Logline is new and has none of these yet.

If you rely on approvals, locked periods or logging from a calendar, stay. Logline has none of them.

If you log in Jira and only report

Jira allows one time tracking provider at a time. Tempo’s help says that with Tempo as the provider, Jira’s Log work is replaced by Tempo’s Log time; with Jira as the provider, people log in both places, but “approvals and team timesheets aren’t available”, and worklogs made in Jira “can’t take advantage of work attributes” (Tempo, can users without Tempo access still log time in Jira). Atlassian adds that with a third-party provider, “your data might be stored with the app developer” (Atlassian, configure time tracking). If you have already gone back to Jira’s own time tracking, the worklogs are Jira’s and any report over them is a worklog report.

What Logline gives for the report

Logline is a worklog report and timesheet. Inside Jira, no servers: your data never leaves your site. Built on Atlassian Forge. It changes nothing in Jira and reads Jira’s own worklogs as the person viewing, so nobody sees a worklog Jira hides from them.

  • Hours by anything. Rows by person, epic, space, client field, sprint and more, up to two levels, split by day, week or month, for a rolling or fixed period.
  • Every worklog with its comment, in the Worklogs view, sorted and filtered.
  • Hours against expected, and the days with nothing logged.
  • Billable hours and their amount, by a label, a field or JQL, with hourly rates per space or person, then cost and margin.
  • Budgets on a space, an epic or a client, in hours or money, for the whole work or each month.
  • Saved reports and a dashboard gadget, shared with the people you pick, and a panel on the work item with its time against the estimate.
  • Excel, CSV and a PDF timesheet.

Logline is free for sites with up to 10 Jira users, with every feature. Above that it is billed per user by Atlassian, after a 30-day trial. Tempo Timesheets is a paid app billed through Atlassian, and the Pricing tab of each listing gives the cost for your site.

Moving

Keep Tempo while you build the same reports in Logline over one closed month, and compare the totals per person. Nothing is migrated: the worklogs are already in Jira. The hours that were logged in Tempo will show under Tempo’s account in Logline, so compare only the time logged in Jira. Jira worklog report by user and month shows the report to build, and Find Logline in Jira where it is. More on the Logline home page.

What Logline does not do at all: timers, approvals, locked periods, logging time or planning.

A Logline report on 1 to 30 September, from its scope row down: Scope set to Spaces with ACME, INT and NWND chosen, Whose time Everyone, Period 1 Sep – 30 Sep with its arrows, Show report, then Save, Reports, Copy link and Download on the same line; under it one grey line, “1 Sep – 30 Sep · 447 worklogs · Counted in America/New_York”, with How this is counted and Recalculate. Then the Timesheet tab and its chips: Rows Epic, Then by Work item, Per Total only, Billable only, Sort Remaining %, Descending and Columns. Rows are epics, then work items, with Total, Billable, Amount and the estimate columns, the Total row first: 652h 45m, 404h 30m of it billable at 62%, USD 56,655. ACME-1 Q4 storefront, “2 over”, has 223h 45m, 195h of it billable, its work items furthest over first: ACME-2 Checkout redesign, 14h logged against 12h estimated, a yellow 117%, and a red 133% where it ends. ACME-7 Order history page, 19h, is opened to its nine worklogs, each with its date, Mitch Davis or Alana Grant, the hours and the comment, such as “Tue 1 Sep 14:00 · Mitch Davis · 2h · Order list layout”. NWND-1 Mobile app v2 has 162h 30m, 134h of it billable.
