Hours logged per person on a Jira dashboard

Checked against Atlassian’s documentation on 12 October 2026.

A manager wants one place to look: the hours each person logged this week or this month, on the dashboard the team already opens. On Atlassian Community it reads “how to track hours logged in by all users and get the summary of it?” (Community, June 2026). This page says what Jira’s own gadgets show, where they stop, then what Logline’s gadget does.

What Jira’s gadgets show

  • Workload Pie Chart. Pick a saved filter such as timespent > 0, a statistic type such as Assignee, and Time Spent as the time field: the pie shows each assignee’s share, with the grand total under it. That was the accepted answer in the thread above, and the replies under it say where it stops: it puts each issue’s whole Time spent on its current assignee, so the hours a colleague logged on someone else’s issue land on the assignee. And Time spent is all-time, so the pie has no period: it cannot show this week or last month.
  • Filter results. A saved filter such as worklogAuthor in membersOf("web-team") AND worklogDate >= startOfWeek() shows the issues the team logged time on this week, with Time spent as a column: the right issues, each with its all-time total from every author.
  • Atlassian’s own answer for the hours one person logged across issues is that “there is no existing native way to achieve this using JQL or Dashboard Gadgets”; its knowledge base offers a Python script over the REST API instead (Atlassian, September 2025).

With Logline

Logline is our app. Its gadget shows any saved Logline report on a Jira dashboard, with the hours under the person who logged them, over the report’s period:

  1. In Apps › Logline, pick Last week or This month, set Rows to Person, and limit the report to the team under Edit report › People › Jira groups. Show report switches Gaps and Expected on.
  2. Save the report and Share it with the team’s group.
  3. On the dashboard, add the Logline gadget and pick the saved report in its Edit view.

The gadget then shows the report’s total, the totals of its first row grouping for the ten biggest rows, the billable hours when the site counts them, how old the numbers are, the time zone the days are counted in, and Open in Logline for the whole grid. A report saved with Expected and people as rows shows each person’s Expected and how far under or over it they are.

How it behaves:

  • It is worked out as the person viewing the dashboard, when the dashboard opens, so nobody sees a worklog Jira hides from them, and two viewers can see different totals.
  • Rolling periods move with the calendar: on a Monday, Last week has moved on by itself.
  • It does not refresh on a timer. Jira’s reload icon on the gadget, or the dashboard’s Refresh, reads it again.
  • If its report is deleted or no longer shared with you, the gadget says so.

Sharing and the gadget are described in Saved and shared reports. For the full table behind the gadget, see A weekly Jira timesheet for your team. More on the Logline home page.
